After another hectic summer holiday break, with lovely guests mostly coming from different parts of the east coast of Australia, life will settle down somewhat – although looking at the diary, Autumn is proving to be a popular time of the year with quite a large number of bookings. It is certainly a beautiful time to be holidaying on the Far North Coast of NSW. Amongst our reservations, we have a lady booked for a couple weeks who will be working in Lismore during that time. Because of our location, mid-way between Lismore and Ballina we often have guests who stay at Pines on the Plateau when they visit the area for work – so close to two major business areas.

Back to the Christmas break one of our guests was Sarah Cloutier (Melbourne). Sarah attended High School with my son many years ago. Sarah ‘s mother from Toowoomba also stayed, so it was great catching up with ‘old friends’.

As is often the case we have had some summer rain – add the warmth of the season and this equals my garden needing lots of attention. So out with the gardening gloves and on with the boots to get weeding!

Thinking of a winter break? We will be offering a Winter Time Special. Visit our website www.pinesontheplateau.com to catch the deal.

Today is the first day of Spring – and a more perfect day you could not imagine! So warm and sunny – I really shouldn’t be in the office, I should be out there enjoying it! The rain showers that we have had recently have helped the previous work that I have done in the garden and have saved me the chore of watering. The pansies with their pretty faces are smiling and the daisies are looking a treat, even the roses are looking very healthy. At the moment we have guests from Melbourne and they are delighted with the sunny conditions.

Spring and summer months bring about many activities that we can look forward to in this area including:- Cedar Guitar Music Festival, Big Scrub Rainforest Day Sample Food Fair, Lismore Cup, Taste of Spring Festival, Nimbin Annual Country Show and Nimbin Spring Arts Festival. Not to mention all the markets (every weekend), art exhibitions, cooking/art/dance classes/stage productions, etc. that are flourishing here.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Thursday 22nd September. Lismore Cup Day. The highlight of the social calendar for Lismore!! Somewhere in the vicinity of 7,000 people attend enjoying all the fun, colour and excitement of a true country cup race day. For more information visit www.lismoreturfclub.com.

During September and October many agricultural shows are held throughout the North Coast, including Lismore’s North Coast National Exhibition.

On Saturday November 26th, the North Coast’s most talented musos and artists will converge on Lismore’s racetrack to play music, perform art and create an uplifting community vibe that will be truly unforgettable…AND raise funds for mental health and homelessness at the same time. This will be the 2nd annual “In Good Company Festival” – www.ingoodcompanyfestival.org.

Just too much to list here! Visit http://bookings.visitlismore.com.au/events_monthly.asp and also the Ballina Visitors Centre’s website www.discoverballina.com to see what’s happening closer to the coast.

Well worth booking into Pines on the Plateau to enjoy any of these events, don’t you think?
