The
best of both worlds between the rainforests and the
sea – however you describe the Far North Coast,
it would be difficult to find a better location for
a holiday than
Pines
on the Plateau
Boutique Lodges
With
the area’s abundance of waterways, aqua activities
reign supreme. The coastline of the region stretches
from Tweed Heads in the far north, Kingscliff, Brunswick
Heads, Byron Bay, Lennox Head (Lake Ainsworth with
its Tea Tree Lake), Ballina (Shaws Bay) to Evans
Head. You will find meandering rivers, lakes and
mountain streams plus beautiful waterfalls if it’s
inland waters that you prefer.
The
area is well known for its physical beauty and covers
spectacular World Heritage Parks including the Nightcap,
Mount Warning (the tip of which can be seen from
Pines on the Plateau), Border Ranges and Richmond
Range National Parks.
Many
quaint villages with alfresco cafes, galleries, antique
and bric-a-brac shops as well as historic pubs are
within a short drive from Pines on the Plateau. These
Villages include Alstonville, Bangalow, Bexhill,
Broadwater, Clunes, Dunoon, Eltham, Federal, Mullumbimby,
Newrybar, Rosebank, Tintenbar, The Channon, Wardell,
and of course Nimbin, known for its alternative lifestyle
and its natural beauty.
Lismore,
the heart of the Rainbow Region and home of Southern
Cross University, is the regional centre of the north
coast. Regional offices of some major government
departments including health, education, social services,
people, justice and employment are located here.
It is a sporting city and one that is cultural, with
high quality arts and craft centres in the city and
the surrounding villages.
Every
weekend there is a colourful market held somewhere
within the region. These markets display a large
range of locally hand-made or home-grown goods (many
are grown organically), second-hand items, clothing,
plants, painting, jewellery, crystals, massage oils,
etc.
If
hunger pangs set in, cafes and restaurants are in
plentiful supply and can offer food from all parts
of the world. The well known and award winning Bellowing
Bull Restaurant is just a 3 minute drive from Pines
on the Plateau. Take-away cafes and the Pioneer Tavern’s
Bistro are close by. Maybe you might like to purchase
some local seafood to bring back to your lodge and
create your own alfresco scene!
If
you are planning a wedding, why not relax by leaving
the co-ordination of your special event to local
experts, Wedding

enjoy all the beauty that the Far North Coast of
